Caprese: Italian style – local products

Caprese. Photo by CookkaNovaHave you thought about eating caprese for breakfast? If not – you have to try! This is real unique italian taste. This easy recipe comes from Capri Island and is usually treated as a starter. Becouse of its colors Caprese salad looks like italian national flag.

Preparation time: 5-7 minutes (anyway very fast!) and you do not have to cook!

Ingredients (for 1):

  • 1 (125 g) white mozzarella ball (I prefer italian producers)
  • 1-2 tomatoes (local tomato is the best: red, green, yellow – which one you like)
  • fresh basil (few leafs of local product)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (good quality, extra vergine)
  • salt and ground pepper
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

Washed tomatoes and mozzarella cut into thin slices and place on the plate alternately. Sprinkle with ground pepper, olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Place basil on the top. And serve!

Tip: You can also shake balsamic vinegar with olive oil, salt and pepper and prepare smooth salsa to sprinkle the salad.
